Week 4: July 1-12
Theme: Gold Rush
Field Trip: Autry
During the 4th week of Summer Camp, the students attended a field trip to the Autry Museum. The art activity for that week included selecting paintings that they found interesting and were something they wish to recreate. While at the Autry, the campers visited the California Cont’d exhibit; one of the fun facts in the exhibit was discovering the Soap Stone carvings one of Elders in the Tataviam tribe had on display and also seeing the location of their tribes on the Map of California. The Autry also provided the students with the experience of dressing up; this was in the Western Film/Costume area. On the way back to the Rudy Ortega Sr Park, it was 7/11, so a pit stop for free slurps was a must!
