THE AIEC PROGRAM
The AIEC- American Indian Education Center (formally known as TAMIT) provides educational, leadership and cultural programming aimed at gearing American Indian and Alaska Natives students for success. Program elements include early literacy, tutoring, quarterly events, college conferences, reservation trips, summer camps, family activities, college prep and cultural education
Eligibility: American Indian or Alaska Native students (all ages, pre-K and toddler included in some programs), resident of northern Los Angeles County. Application on TAMIT website under FORMS.
Our Philosophy: To incorporate education and leadership development initiative through community building using non-traditional and traditional American Indian (AI) teaching methods while incorporating Indigenous values for Native Americans to:
-Improve AI student academic achievement
-Increase the number of AI attending college
-Create a young generation of future leaders to positively impact their community
-Reaffirm cultural values and identity
-Build capacity and a sustainable program model
