About the Instructors: Avril Cordova & Annette Phoenix
Avril Cordova is an enrolled member of the Taos Pueblo Tribe of Taos, New Mexico on her father’s side and daughter of enrolled member of the Oglala Lakota tribe from Pine Ridge SD on her mother’s side. Avril was an important part of the collaborative team at Seven Generations Child and Family Services Prevention & Aftercare program through United American Indian Involvement in Los Angeles as a Care Coordinator for more than 13 years. Avril is the owner/operator of AC and Associates providing trainings and community engagement services all over Indian country.

Annette Phoenix is an enrolled member of the Tohono O’odham Nation (T.O.N.) also known as Papago from Gunsight Village of Southern Arizona on her mother’s side, and Chippewa from Minnesota on her father’s side. For many years, she had been involved with the Southern California Indian Center’s Education Component in the Parent Committee and her 4 sons in the Youth Council: planning events, attending educational conferences, hosting information booths and fundraising. Annette has helped many large and small pow-wow committees with their food booths. Working the frybread section by making the dough and dough balls, flapping breads and frying them up to a delicious golden brown. She absolutely enjoys working with our Native Community by interacting and sharing talents with experience to create works of art with others.
