Our native and local community came together on a brisk January morning at Rudy Ortega Sr. Park, to take part in a nature walk led by our partners at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles. On this walk families used the innovative iNaturalist app to document and identify species of plants, animals, and other matter. Discoveries like white sage, hummingbirds, Monarch butterflies and raccon tracks were spotted. Each discovery weaving us together, stitch by stitch, like the complex and diverse ecosytstem that we are. It was a pleasure to share the spotlight with FTBMI edler, Dennis Garcia, who shared his illustrative storytelling with us. It is a small victory when the community comes together to connect with one another and share a space where we evoke curiosity, exploration, and kinship.
